Softball Recap: Castaic's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Castaic posted their closest win since March 7th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Valley Grizzlies, sneaking past 11-9. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-2 back in March.

Tatum McAfee made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Castaic got a massive performance out of Alexis Steen, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Steen has posted since back in March. Olivia Rivas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Castaic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Castaic moved to 8-9 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Golden Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Castaic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-3 loss against West Ranch on the 19th. As for Golden Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 26-0 defeat against Sierra Canyon on the 21st.
