Basketball Recap: Milwaukee Lutheran Comes Up Short

Milwaukee Lutheran lost against Whitnall back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Milwaukee Lutheran Red Knights fell 58-48 to the Whitnall Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Red Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Falcons are ranked 58th).

Whitnall's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Ward, who posted 16 points and three steals. Amari Ogleton was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Milwaukee Lutheran has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Whitnall, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milwaukee Lutheran will venture away from home to face off against South Milwaukee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Milwaukee Lutheran is facing South Milwaukee at the right time seeing as South Milwaukee is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Whitnall, they will take on Shorewood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
