Basketball Game Preview: King's Academy Knights vs. Johnson County Sports Association Lions

The King's Academy Knights will take on the Johnson County Sports Association Lions in a tournament on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (King's Academy has five straight victories, Johnson County Sports Association has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

King's Academy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Athens Christian Preparatory Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that King's Academy blew Athens Christian Preparatory Academy out of the water with a 65-16 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-8.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead King's Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Everett Hollis, who went 7 for 15 en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and three blocks. Hollis is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Brayden Madison was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

King's Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Athens Christian Preparatory Academy only posted five assists.

Meanwhile, Johnson County Sports Association was beaten by North Central Texas Academy 106-16 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1666th, while the Pioneers are ranked 186th).

Tucker Grayson was Johnson County Sports Association's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Jason Calaway took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

King's Academy pushed their record up to 14-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points per game. As for Johnson County Sports Association, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
