Baseball Recap: Oswayo Valley Takes a Loss

Oswayo Valley had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it 15. They came up short against the Port Allegany Gators, falling 18-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Green Wave of the 11-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Port Allegany, the win keeps they at an undefeated 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won four matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Port Allegany's part, Aiden Bliss made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bliss was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chase Boyd was a standout: he got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Veilleux, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Port Allegany has already played their next contest, a 6-4 defeat against Elk County Catholic on the 24th. Hopefully Oswayo Valley paid attention to the Gators' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Gators at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
