Basketball Game Preview: Reeths-Puffer Rockets vs. Whitehall Vikings

The Reeths-Puffer Rockets will challenge the Whitehall Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Saturday, Reeths-Puffer was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 68-63 to Traverse City West. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while the Titans are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Whitehall had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 63-51.

Reeths-Puffer better keep an eye on Camden Thompson. He was instrumental in Whitehall's win, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. The game was Thompson's 17th in a row with at least ten points. Brock Morningstar was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Reeths-Puffer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Whitehall, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Reeths-Puffer didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Whitehall when the teams last played back in February of 2021, but they still walked away with a 72-67 win. Will Reeths-Puffer repeat their success, or does Whitehall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
