Basketball Recap: Millard South's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Millard South was feeling good fresh off their 57-34 takedown of Lincoln East last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Millard South Patriots fell 41-30 to the Millard North Mustangs on Friday. The match marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Millard South lost, don't look at Abbi Durow. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Durow is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Carder, who earned seven points and nine rebounds.

Millard North had a senior duo take command as Avril Smith dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards and Kate Stevens scored 12 points. The game was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points.

Millard South moved to 9-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Millard North, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

When Millard South and Millard North next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Millard South will try to stop Millard West's 11-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Millard South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Millard North will square off against Omaha Westside and their four-game winning streak at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
