Baseball Recap: Medford Sets Scoring Season-High Against Academy for Sciences & Agriculture

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Medford). They were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over the Academy for Sciences & Agriculture Eagles on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Landon Seiler and Jared Sheeler made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Seiler tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sheeler pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Seiler earned one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while Sheeler went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Seiler has become a key player for Medford: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, August Zacherias was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Maas, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Medford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Academy for Sciences & Agriculture only managed one hit.

The victory made it two in a row for Medford and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.5 runs over those games. As for Academy for Sciences & Agriculture, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Medford will welcome Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy for Sciences & Agriculture, they will host Brooklyn Center at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
