Football Recap: Swansboro Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Swansboro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past the East Carteret Mariners with a 34-28 victory. The win almost wasn't to be: the Pirates were down 21-7 in the second quarter.

Carmello Beasley had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 149 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. He was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 50 yards.

East Carteret's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke McIntosh, who threw for 129 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown. The Mariners' leading receiver Jackson Greene was McIntosh's top target yet again, picking up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The victory got Swansboro back to even at 2-2. As for East Carteret, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Swansboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 52-0 defeat against Croatan on the 19th. As for East Carteret, they have also already played their next game, a 41-21 win against American Leadership Academy-Johnston on the 19th.
