Recap: Walnut Ridge Scots vs. Africentric Early College Nubians

There's no place like home for the Walnut Ridge Scots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-45 win over Africentric Early College on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Walnut Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Walnut Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominique Aekins, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Aekins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diondre Thomas Reed, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Walnut Ridge's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Africentric Early College, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walnut Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Eastmoor Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Walnut Ridge is ranked 200th). Africentric Early College won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. South is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
