Rosemead hasn't had much luck against South El Monte recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Rosemead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
South El Monte will be up against a hot Rosemead squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Panthers' way against El Monte on Friday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Panthers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 27-0).

Anthony Ruiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Rosemead is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise. Ruiz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rosemead let Logan Mojica and Juleean Pinto run wild. Mojica got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Pinto went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Pinto has become a key player for Rosemead: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Lucas Mojica was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Rosemead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, South El Monte didn't have quite enough to beat Mary Star of the Sea on Monday and fell 6-5.
Matthew Velazquez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Velazquez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Elijah Benavidez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emiliano Gonzalez, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
Rosemead's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for South El Monte, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Rosemead has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like South El Monte struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
