Volleyball Recap: Gray Stone Day Comes Up Short

If Gray Stone Day was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Union Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell just short of the North Stanly Comets by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Gray Stone Day took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 23-25, 26-24, 15-3.

Jordan Baker paced Gray Stone Day's offense, picking up 12 kills. Baker got some help from Morgan Burnside and her 28 assists. Baker also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ashlyn Jarrett, each putting up three.

Gray Stone Day's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for North Stanly, they pushed their record up to 17-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Gray Stone Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Corvian Community on the 18th. As for North Stanly, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against West Davidson on the 21st.
