Football Recap: Immaculata Spartans vs. Hudson Catholic Hawks
Immaculata put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by the Hudson Catholic Hawks at home to the tune of 49-14. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 22 points or more this season.
Leading Immaculata to victory were Cole Hayden and Daysir Spliie. Hayden rushed for 153 yards while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, while Spliie rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Hayden's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 116 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jahmier Black made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Immaculata was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 319 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Immaculata's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Hudson Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Immaculata will look to defend their home field on Friday against Snyder. Immaculata knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Snyder likes a good challenge. As for Hudson Catholic, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Side at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.
