Flag Football Recap: Ventura Skates Past Buena with Ease

While Ventura put up plenty of points on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Buena. The Cougars took their game with ease, bagging a 33-0 victory over the Bulldogs. Considering the Cougars have won ten matchups by more than 19 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Ortman had another great game (as she tends to do), throwing for 292 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Mya Rodriguez, who picked up 82 receiving yards and three scores.

Ventura's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Amani King and Sophia Cota, who racked up five sacks between them.

Ventura is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.3 points on average over those games. As for Buena, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ventura is set to take on their familiar foe Dos Pueblos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 13.1, the Chargers 7.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Buena will square off against rival Pacifica at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
