Basketball Recap: Riverside Academy Takes a Loss

Riverside Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the West St. John Rams. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

West St. John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jahavon Grows, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Naheim Gastearl, who earned 11 points.

Riverside Academy's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-16. As for West St. John, their record now sits at 5-14.

Looking ahead, Riverside Academy will head out to take on Doyle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West St. John, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 61-49 defeat against Ascension Catholic on the 17th.
