Basketball Game Preview: Highland Fighting Scots vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets + How To Watch

Highland is 0-5 against Mt. Vernon since December of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Fighting Scots are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m.

Highland is leaving town to face Mt. Vernon after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The game between the Fighting Scots and Mt. Gilead didn't end well, with the Fighting Scots falling 66-52.

Highland might have lost, but man, Ja'Kai Wilson was a machine: he went 8-for-20 to rack up 20 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen X. Winkelfoos, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Centerburg as they made off with a 57-36 win. The Yellowjackets not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 14th (when they won 69-46).

Highland was taken down by Mt. Vernon 77-50 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Fighting Scots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
