Soccer Game Preview: Los Alamitos vs. Marina

The Los Alamitos Griffins will challenge the Marina Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Alamitos' last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Los Alamitos is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They skirted past Corona del Mar 3-2.

Meanwhile, Marina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Newport Harbor. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Vikings couldn't quite close it out.

Los Alamitos' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-7-4. As for Marina, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12-2.

Los Alamitos came out on top in a nail-biter against Marina when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Los Alamitos since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
