Baseball Game Preview: Choctaw County Tigers vs. Fruitdale Pirates

The Choctaw County Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Fruitdale Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Fruitdale will be up against a hot Choctaw County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Choctaw County never let Greensboro get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Thursday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Meanwhile, Fruitdale got the win against Southern Choctaw on Friday by a conclusive 14-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Lane Cochran was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Jacob Wilson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Trenton Turner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Choctaw County picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Fruitdale, their record is now 4-10.

Choctaw County beat Fruitdale 9-5 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Choctaw County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
