Basketball Game Preview: Crete Cardinals vs. Elkhorn Antlers

The Crete Cardinals will challenge the Elkhorn Antlers at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Thursday, Crete ended up a good deal behind Blair and lost 54-37. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn took a blow against Gretna East on Thursday, falling 57-25. While losing is never fun, the Antlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Griffins are ranked 22nd).

Elkhorn's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6. As for Crete, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Crete came up short against Elkhorn in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 56-52. Can Crete avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
