Weldon Dunston IV Drops League-Best Performance on Friday
Starting off the list is Effingham's Weldon Dunston IV, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Dunston IV's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 139 rushing yards dating back to last season. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.
Effingham's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. Dunston IV and Effingham will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mt. Zion at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.

Dyer Made His Presence Known in Mahomet-Seymour's 38-14 Win
Lucas Dyer's big game helped extend Mahomet-Seymour's winning streak to three on Friday. Dyer was unstoppable, throwing for 240 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
If the past is any indication, Dyer could be in store for another big game when he takes on Mattoon on Friday. When Dyer last faced the Greenwave back in October of 2023, he threw for 175 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.

Baron Odam helped snap Taylorville's three-game losing streak. Odam turned in nothing short of a gem on Friday, rushing for 41 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Taylorville's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. Odam and Taylorville will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Charleston at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.

Mt. Zion Gets a Boost from Trimble in 38-14 Loss
Brayden Trimble put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in October of 2023 on Friday. He picked up 45 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Trimble and Mt. Zion will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Effingham at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th. The Braves got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Hearts, probably because Trimble had a solid game then too: he picked up 52 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 34 yards. Can he match (or beat) that performance?

Rounding off our Top Five is Cale Kimbro of Mattoon. Kimbro made nine total tackles. He was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 60 yards.
The win made it two in a row for Mattoon and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Kimbro and Mattoon will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mahomet-Seymour at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.
