Basketball Recap: Franklin County Victorious

Franklin County hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against the New Castle Trojans by a score of 54-45 on Saturday.

Landon Johnson had an outrageously good game as he went 9-for-16 to rack up 28 points. He is becoming a predictor of Franklin County's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Kemp, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Franklin County was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

New Castle's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alijah Turner, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 16 points. What's more, Turner also posted two steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landon Thompson, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Franklin County's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for New Castle, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Franklin County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-51 loss against Centerville on the 14th. As for New Castle, they have also already played their next contest, a 58-46 defeat against Delta on the 14th.
