Basketball Preview: Huntington Raiders vs. Evangel Christian Academy Eagles
Huntington is 7-0 against the Eagles since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Huntington Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Huntington has seven straight victories, the Eagles have five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Huntington gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Northwood, posting a 72-42 victory on the road. Given Huntington's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Gators are ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carley Hamilton was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. She hasn't dropped below 15 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyndal Graham, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Evangel Christian Academy took a serious blow against the Falcons last Wednesday, falling 60-15.
Huntington is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. As for Evangel Christian Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Huntington against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 88-9 victory. With Huntington ahead 49-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
