Baseball Recap: Prestonsburg Comes Up Short

The matchup between Prestonsburg and Paintsville on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Blackcats came up short against the Tigers, falling 15-5. The Blackcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Barrett Hunter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Luke Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Prestonsburg has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-23 record this season. As for Paintsville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 24-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prestonsburg will welcome Johnson Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Blackcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Paintsville, they will be playing at home against Blazer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Tomcats at the right time seeing as the Tomcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
