8A District 8 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Vero Beach took down East Lee County 39-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dalton Stokes threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns and ran for four yards in the win.
The Indians led 8A District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 39 points on the Jaguars. Stokes in the win.
Vero Beach's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Roosevelt Spruill chipped in 56 yards. Jimmy Williamson helped Vero Beach's passing attack out by catching nine balls for 83 yards.
Will Dawkins was the best wideout in the league this week as Lenny Jankowski's team beat East Lee County. Dawkins racked up five receptions for 87 yards.
Vero Beach's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Stokes has thrown for 1348 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Dawkins has 19 catches for 395 yards. Jason Pierre leads the league in rushing with 287 yards.
A big matchup in 8A District 8 this week will be when Centennial takes on the Indians. The Eagles are in third place, while Vero Beach is in first place.
The Indians made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 488 from 748. The improvement came about via a 39-8 victory over Scott Jones' team last week.
