It was a Battle of the Birds when Lake Minneola faced off against South Lake on Tuesday. The Lake Minneola Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the South Lake Eagles, sneaking past 7-5. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered an 11-9 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Giselle Mccormick, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Quevedo, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Lake Minneola's record now sits at 5-3. As for South Lake, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Minneola will face off against The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Villages Charter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Lake Minneola's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Lake, they will challenge West Port at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. South Lake is facing West Port at the right time seeing as West Port is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
