Basketball Recap: Madison County Takes a Loss

After soaring to 56 points the game before, Madison County was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. 2025 welcomed they with a 55-30 loss courtesy of the Luray Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 135th).

It was another big night for Blake Jenkins, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 21 points for Luray. Ayden Haddock was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Madison County's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Luray, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison County will host Strasburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Luray, they will welcome Stonewall Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Luray is facing Stonewall Jackson at the right time seeing as Stonewall Jackson is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
