It was a proper cat-fight when Lakewood faced off against Boulder on Friday. The Tigers fell 27-22 to the Panthers. On the bright side, the 22- point effort marked the Tigers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Garcia, who picked up 69 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Kasten Steinke was another key passer, throwing for 257 yards and three TDs.

Benny Hovermale was nothing short of spectacular for Boulder: he picked up 54 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown. Those 44 rushing yards gave Hovermale a new career-high. Ethan Toth was another key player, having thrown for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Boulder, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Lakewood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 49-0 loss against Northglenn on the 10th. As for Boulder, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 38-17 defeat against Mountain Range on the 9th.
