Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Hillcrest's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Hillcrest came out on top against Vista del Lago on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Trojans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Ravens an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

James Henson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jacob Sampson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hillcrest is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Vista del Lago, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Hillcrest will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancho Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Vista del Lago, they will face off against Canyon Springs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
