Basketball Recap: Coral Reef Falls Short of Palmetto in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Coral Reef can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Palmetto Panthers and fell 87-39. While losing is never fun, the Barracudas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Panthers are ranked 82nd).

It was another big night for Santiago Henriquez, who went 10 of 15 to rack up 34 points and six assists for Palmetto. That makes it six consecutive games in which Henriquez has scored at least a third of Palmetto's points. Samfree Sarante was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Coral Reef's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Palmetto, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-10.

Coral Reef does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palmetto, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers challenge the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmetto has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
