Katy waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the New Caney Eagles by a score of 54-41. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Eagles are ranked 1079th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Katy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for New Caney, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Katy will face off against Tompkins at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Caney, they will challenge The Woodlands at 1:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
