Baseball Recap: DeWitt Takes a Loss

DeWitt managed to slip by Lansing Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers came up short against the Cougars on Tuesday, falling 7-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Joe Zubal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, DeWitt saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

DeWitt now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Lansing Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cougars beat DeWitt by a score of 7-0 later that day.
