East Wake waltzed into their matchup on Monday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They enjoyed a cozy 85-70 victory over the Smithfield-Selma Spartans. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Spartans are ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Wake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donovan Majette led the charge by going 8-for-13 to rack up 19 points and four steals. Ben Fox was another key player, going 8-for-15 on his way to 22 points.

East Wake was working as a unit and finished the game with 30 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Smithfield-Selma's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jimmy Raiford, who dropped a triple-double with 11 points, 11 boards, and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Raiford a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Johnavon Cox, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

East Wake's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points over those games. As for Smithfield-Selma, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.

East Wake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-39 victory against South Johnston on the 18th. Smithfield-Selma does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
