Basketball Recap: Lexington Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Lexington won the last time they faced Tanner and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lexington Golden Bears came out on top against the Tanner Rattlers by a score of 58-50. Given the Golden Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Rattlers are ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Tanner still got an impressive performance from Aubrey Oliver, who went 9 of 12 en route to 24 points along with six boards and six steals. Those 24 points gave Oliver a new career-high. Khloe Jones was another key player, putting up four points.

Lexington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Tanner, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-24.

Lexington has already played their next matchup, a 75-35 defeat against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy on the 3rd. Tanner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
