Softball Recap: Aletheia Christian Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Aletheia Christian Academy came into Tuesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the East Hill Christian Eagles a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Summer Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Abigail Finley and Madelyn Carlson did most of the damage at the plate: Finley went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Carlson went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Carlson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Varela, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

Aletheia Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Aletheia Christian Academy's record now sits at 6-8. As for East Hill Christian, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Aletheia Christian Academy will challenge Santa Rosa Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Rosa Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.71 runs per game on average), something Aletheia Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. East Hill Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
