Softball Game Preview: Northbrook Raiders vs. Cy-Fair Bobcats

Northbrook hasn't had much luck against Cy-Fair recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Raiders are taking a road trip to take on the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Northbrook has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Northbrook's offense. They came up short against Cypress Creek on Tuesday, falling 11-0. The Raiders' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Cy-Fair got the win against Cypress Falls on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kathryn Kram spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cori Figgs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Addyson Elrod, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Figgs wasn't the only one making solid contact: Cy-Fair kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Falls only managed two hits.

Cy-Fair is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Northbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.

Northbrook suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Cy-Fair in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
