Baseball Recap: Waynesfield-Goshen Takes a Loss

Waynesfield-Goshen extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They fell 6-3 to the Ridgemont Golden Gophers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Gophers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Reed Waitman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

As for Ridgemont, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

On Ridgemont's side, Kody Kiser made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kiser has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maverick Dawson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Cole Henry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Waynesfield-Goshen is set to challenge their familiar foe Temple Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Ridgemont will face off against rival Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
