Basketball Game Preview: Boulder Panthers vs. Riverdale Ridge Ravens

Boulder is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Riverdale Ridge is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Boulder Panthers will host the Riverdale Ridge Ravens at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Boulder is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Mountain Range 73-48 on Thursday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Boulder can attribute much of their success to Megan Matthews, who went 9-for-19 on her way to 26 points along with eight boards and three steals, and Lexi Oder, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Oder is becoming a predictor of Boulder's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 8-1 (and 4-6 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Maiorca, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Boulder smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Riverdale Ridge humbled Brighton with a 96-12 victory. The Ravens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 25 points or more this season.

Riverdale Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.8 points over those games. As for Boulder, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Boulder took a serious blow against Riverdale Ridge when the teams last played back in January, falling 79-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Riverdale Ridge's Brihanna Crittendon, who went 17-for-24 en route to 37 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
