Basketball Game Preview: Apopka Blue Darters vs. Lake Brantley Patriots

The Apopka Blue Darters will face off against the Lake Brantley Patriots on Tuesday. Lake Brantley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Apopka, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Apopka blew past Olympia, posting a 59-11 victory. The Blue Darters have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Amirah Nurse had a dynamite game for Apopka, dropping a triple-double on 12 points, 13 boards, and 12 steals. Those 13 rebounds gave Nurse a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anabela Hart, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Lake Brantley had to suffer through a 63-30 loss at the hands of Winter Park. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Apopka will have to keep a close watch on Alana Taylor and Maddie Woodrow, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lake Brantley's prior game. Taylor posted 11 points, while Woodrow scored nine points.

Apopka's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Lake Brantley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.

Everything came up roses for Apopka against Lake Brantley in their previous matchup back in February of 2021, as the squad secured a 72-24 victory. Will Apopka repeat their success, or does Lake Brantley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
