Mount Vernon waltzed into their match on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came out on top against the Winnsboro Raiders by a score of 11-8. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 15, 2022.

Mount Vernon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Winnsboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8-1 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Mount Vernon Tigers challenge Rains Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Vernon is facing Rains at the right time seeing as Rains is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Winnsboro, they will square off against Commerce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Commerce has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.65 runs per game on average), something Winnsboro will no doubt try to take advantage of.
