Basketball Game Preview: Wekiva Mustangs vs. Bishop Moore Hornets

The Wekiva Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Bishop Moore Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Wekiva was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-45 to Altamonte Christian. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Bishop Moore came up short against Lake Highland Prep on Tuesday and fell 47-36. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Bishop Moore saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaiden Peterson shot 43% from the field to rack up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alysya Smith, who posted seven points.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Bishop Moore, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Wekiva skirted past Bishop Moore 52-50 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Peterson, who had 17 points and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Mustangs still be able to contain Peterson? There's only one way to find out.
