Baseball Recap: Southside Christian Wins Going Away Against Scotland Christian Academy

The Southside Christian Warriors made easy work of the Scotland Christian Academy Saints on Thursday and carried off a 15-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Zeke Ragan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Busdieker, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathanael Jewett, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Southside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Southside Christian's record is now 2-3. As for Scotland Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Southside Christian will challenge Wilson Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Scotland Christian Academy, they will square off against Greenville Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
