Baseball Game Preview: Honeoye Bulldogs vs. Naples Big Green Machines

The Honeoye Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Naples Big Green Machines at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Honeoye's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Naples' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Honeoye didn't have quite enough to beat Bloomfield and fell 6-5. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Naples entered their tilt with Avoca Central on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Tigers. Five seems to be a good number for the Big Green Machines as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Hunter Jacoby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Naples saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Grove, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Ollie Bruen was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Naples now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Honeoye, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

Honeoye skirted past Naples 5-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
