Softball Recap: Nacogdoches' Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

Nacogdoches won against Marshall last Friday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Dragons walked away with a 9-4 win over the Jacksonville Fightin' Indians. This was a revenge game for the Dragons: when they faced off against the Fightin' Indians back in March, they had to take a 10-4 loss.

LT Garrett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Kylie Fields and Arlette Castillo did most of the damage at the plate: Fields scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Castillo scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Castillo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Clayton Cross, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Nacogdoches' victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18. As for Jacksonville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-19.

Looking ahead, Nacogdoches will head out on the road to square off against Lufkin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jacksonville, they will square off against Tyler at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
