Softball Game Preview: Rowland Raiders vs. Northview Vikings

For the second straight game, Rowland will face off against Northview. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Rowland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Northview, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Raiders fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

For Northview's part, Clementina Duran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. Duran has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Northview let Beatriz Diaz and Marylin Sandoval run wild. Diaz went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Sandoval went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Ochoa, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Rowland's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1. As for Northview, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season.
