Nansemond River proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by five) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Smithfield Packers. The victory was just business as usual for Nansemond River, who after five games remain undefeated this season.

Nansemond River pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Smithfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Nansemond River and Smithfield will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Warriors see the pitch they'll take on Great Bridge at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Smithfield, their break will end when they face Warhill at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
