Preview: Alexandria Trojans vs. Pineville Rebels
The Alexandria Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pineville Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, it was close, but Alexandria sidestepped Ouachita Parish for a 53-51 victory. Given Alexandria's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Ouachita Parish is ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexandria had a senior duo take command as Jaylin Johnson scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals and Chavez Whitehead scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitehead has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Bobb, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Pineville can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past West Ouachita 65-17 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Pineville sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Alexandria's victory bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Pineville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
