Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Gabriella Melecio and Marcella Chiriboga Lead Rampart to Victory

Rampart hadn't done well against Thompson Valley recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rams walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.

Rampart was led to victory by Marcella Chiriboga and Gabriella Melecio. Chiriboga had 15 digs and two aces, while Melecio had 26 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Chiriboga has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Clarose, who had nine digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Rampart was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in three consecutive matches.

Dany Alps and Payton Reichelderfer certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Alps had 18 digs and four aces, while Reichelderfer had 16 digs and one assist. Alps has been hot recently, having also posted 19 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Rampart's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Thompson Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

Rampart wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Chaparral on the 1st. As for Thompson Valley, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Erie on the 1st.
