Softball Recap: Greenhill Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Greenhill took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Trinity Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Trojans on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Sammie Engberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Fisher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cate Simpson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Greenhill's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Trinity Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Coincidentally, Greenhill and Trinity Valley will both be playing Hockaday the next time they take the field. The Trojans will host the Daisies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Hornets will host them at 4:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
