Preview: Ben Lomond Scots vs. Grantsville Cowboys
The Ben Lomond Scots will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Grantsville Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Ben Lomond pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 78-56 walloping at the hands of Ogden. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (55), Ben Lomond still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, Ben Lomond got some senior leadership from Jake East and Jonathan Alcarez. East scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Alcarez. scored 11 points along with three blocks. Alcarez is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Grantsville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-48 loss to Morgan on Friday.
Grantsville's loss came about despite a quality game from Ethan Powell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Ben Lomond has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Grantsville, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-10.
Ben Lomond came up short against Grantsville when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 46-36. Can Ben Lomond avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
