League recap: Brannan overpowering for Carrollton in past week

Cole Brannan was the best pitcher in Western Illinois Valley - South this week, leading Carrollton. He picked up one win and 12 strikeouts.

The Hawks outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their two total wins led the league. Carrollton beat Calhoun 3-2 and North Greene 4-2.

The Hawks' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories.

The league boasted three .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Danny Williams, who collected three hits in five at bats for a .600 average.

Carrollton's Brannan led the league in strikeouts this week with 12. He's first in the league with 47 total strikeouts.



Brannan led the Hawks to a win on May 16, as he notched 12 strikeouts to beat the Warriors, 3-2. Over seven innings of work, he gave up four hits and two runs.
