Basketball Recap: Skyline Takes a Loss

Skyline lost against Mountain View last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Skyline Coyotes took a blow against the Mountain View Toros, falling 73-40. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Skyline's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Seiuli, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Lauren Haas, who posted 11 points. Seiuli has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Madalyn Valdez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Mountain View got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Fischbeck out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Fischbeck a new career-high in steals (seven). Another player making a difference was Millie Ahlstrom, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points and eight assists.

Skyline's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Skyline will be playing at home against Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mountain View, they will head out to square off against Red Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
